Should we seek ways to control the brain with technologies?

Introduction

For many decades, scientists are working on mind-controlled technologies. According to researchers, in the future, it is possible for scientists and neurosurgeons to control over the most complex network of the human brain which always helps in their Homework . In the future people could drive a car using nothing but the power of the mind. As the research is going on self-driving cars, driver less cars wouldn’t seem so attractive then. Some years ago the thought of the driver less cars seemed like a distant possibility, something too good to be true. The question arises from here, is how further we let our scientists go in the field of advancement before it messes with the underlying morals and ethics and is it too late to get back?
The mind-controlled technology that scientists are working is not new. At the beginning of the 1920s, researchers and scientists discovered the electrical activity in the human brain and invented electroencephalography (EEG). The purpose of EEG is to monitor the method to record the electrical activity of the brain. It was observed that neurons conveyed information via electrical ‘spikes’. Electrical spikes can be recorded using a thin metal wire or electrode.

Do we use mind monitoring today?

As a matter of fact, we do need mind motoring devices. As a keyboard, mouse, touch screens or even voice recognition were a thing of past to come. It would be awesome if we would just need to think and make our gadget do whatever we wish to. EEG Smart touch is a wearable device that lets people control drones and toys by using the power of the mind. Mind wave is also another example it is also a wearable device where an individual can play games and do etc with the power of the mind.

Research has done so far

We can integrate mind control technology to provide accessibility for the people who have been fully paralyzed or have lost limbs. The surgeons at Josh Hopkins University School of medicine fitted 128 electrode sensors on a man’s motor cortex, which enable him to move the individual fingers of his bionic arm. The simple idea behind this technology is to inject energy into one part of the brain network to the other parts of the network. These techniques are known as deep brain stimulation techniques.

Conclusion

The researchers, scientists, and surgeons are looking forward to the advancement of this technology to use it to control the mind of humans, but who knows in the future its uses remain ethical and don’t get used by the wrong people. Connecting our brain to the technology may be the natural progression, but we can’t let technology to rule out the moral complications and possess risks to the individual. The use of this technology could have serious repercussions in the military. There is a need to address these issues before it is too late to put back the genie in the bottle.
